GOLF
Fernandina Beach Municipal
Course has 27 holes and is a very enjoyable course. The south
and west courses are the best in our opinion. We can also
arrange a game at the Golf Club of Amelia Island, located in the
Ritz complex or perhaps Oyster Bay in St. Marys, Georgia. (30
miles up the road). We would be happy to arrange tee times for
you.
TENNIS
There
are four public tennis courts that are approximately 1 mile away
on Atlantic Ave. They are lighted for evening play. See us for a
key
HORSEBACK RIDING
on the beach is always a popular activity. Contact Kelly Sea
Horse Stables ... Tel. 904-491-5166.
AMELIA COMMUNITY
THEATRE AND FERNANDINA BEACH LITTLE THEATRE
both perform at intervals throughout the year featuring casts of
locals! Jeanine is our resident theatre buff and can fill you
in!
CARRIAGE RIDES
are available to
give you a tour of the historic district. You may book these
through the Florida House Inn. Inquire about our dinner/carriage
ride combo.
SCENIC DRIVES
down the "Buccaneer Trail", one of the most beautiful roads in
the south. A two-lane road (AIA south) connects one barrier
island to the next, from Amelia Isl. to Ft. George Island and
the St. John's river ferry.
KINGSLEY PLANTATION
is located on Ft. George Island.
Built in 1792 it is the oldest plantation in Florida. Exhibits
at the main house are available any day 9 to 5. Ranger programs
Monday through Friday 1:30 PM, Saturday and Sunday 11 AM, 1:30
PM, and 3 PM. It was recently designated a National Park.
LITTLE TALBOT
ISLAND STATE PARK
this beautiful park has over 5 miles of beach and a coastal
hammock covered with live oak, holly and magnolia trees and sea
oat covered dunes. Complete with nature trails, picnic areas,
campsites and fishing, it is just 10 miles south of here on AIA.
CUMBERLAND ISLAND NATIONAL SEASHORE
is just a few miles north of Fernandina Beach. Reachable only by
ferry from St. Marys, Georgia the "Cumberland Queen" makes the
trip daily. Call 912-882-4335 for reservations and information.
There is also a local tour service available. See brochures in
the breakfast room for more information.
ANTIQUE SHOPS
are found downtown in the historic district as well as some
outlying locations. We will be glad to point you in the right
direction! SPECIALTY STORES abound on Centre St. You will enjoy
browsing through them.
KAYAK AMELIA
offers half and full day excursions that can put you face to
face with dolphins, manatees, otters and a whole host of other
local inhabitants. Picture yourself paddling a kayak through
warm sparkling waters, a dolphin surfaces off your bow as
pelicans soar overhead. The Keys? Bahamas? Cozumel? No, it's
just minutes away in the waters around Amelia Island!
RELAXING IS OUR FAVORITE activity here at the Florida House. Feel free to explore and find your perfect chair!
